Welcome to New College West! As dean, I oversee the college and have special responsibility for juniors and seniors. I’m happy to meet with any NCW students to discuss academics, the stresses of Princeton, or whatever is on your mind. I am looking forward to working with all of you: my door is always open!
I have been a dean since 2013, serving at First College (then Wilson), then moving to New College West; before that, I was Director of Studies at Rockefeller College. My PhD is from Princeton in Comparative Literature, and my scholarly interests include the relationship between literature and ethical/philosophical ideas. I taught in Comparative Literature and as a member of the Writing Program faculty, where I led seminars like “Modern Memory” and “Literature Between the Wars.” I grew up in Ohio and went to college at the University of Chicago. You’ll see my family around the college too: I have two sons who are now taller than I am! I enjoy movies, cooking and eating with friends, and going in to New York and Philly. I'm an academic-athletic fellow for the softball and men’s soccer teams.
